The controversy over Coupang's unfair practices has resurfaced.
On the 19th, the Parcel Delivery Workers' Union, the National Franchisee Association, and the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business held a press conference in front of Coupang's headquarters, voicing their damages due to Coupang's abuse of market dominance and urging consultations for coexistence.
The main issues include: ▲extended settlement periods for sales proceeds ▲excessive price competition induced by the 'Item Winner' policy ▲overwork of delivery workers due to the Rocket Delivery system ▲cost shifting in price competition between delivery apps, particularly Coupang Eats.
Especially, the vendors claim they are suffering due to Coupang's 'Item Winner' policy and the pricing strategy of Coupang Eats.
The Parcel Delivery Workers' Union has demanded improvements to the Rocket Delivery system and social consensus on early morning deliveries.
They emphasized that Coupang's unfair practices are harming market competition, and that the livelihood of the people must not be overlooked in the name of 'innovation.'
Meanwhile, members of the Democratic Party's Euljiro Committee, who attended the press conference, plan to meet with Coupang's management to deliver demands for coexistence consultations.
