The second unmanned lunar lander of the American lunar lander manufacturer 'Intuitive Machines' is scheduled for launch in February 2025.
Steve Altemus, CEO, revealed this during the earnings report on November 14.
The company's first lunar lander successfully landed near the lunar south pole in February 2024. However, it tipped over upon landing, which prevented the completion of its lunar exploration mission, including the deployment of payloads.
The second mission was originally planned for November 2024. However, due to a shortage of launch pads at the Kennedy Space Center and a request from NASA to change the lunar landing site, the launch was postponed to February 2025.
The lander will carry research equipment commissioned by NASA, including a drill capable of exploring up to one meter below the lunar surface and a soil analyzer. NASA plans to use this equipment to determine if there is water at the lunar south pole.
